Congratulations to our Chairman, Jason Watson, for meeting the standards of proficiency required to join the Higher Specialist Scientist register.
Gaining HSS Registration is a considerable achievement and to further mark the significant contribution and standing of registrants, the Academy for Healthcare Science Board has granted use of the title ‘Fellow of the Academy for Healthcare Science’.
Jason becomes the first Consultant Clinical Scientist in this profession, which is a well deserved accolade for the hard work and many years of effort he has put into the education pathway for our trainees, and the integration of Maxillofacial Prosthetics within Healthcare Science.
He comments;
‘I am really very happy for the whole profession. This is another momentous day. As a specialist group we should be proud of the way we have continued to move forwards both educationally and professionally as a group. This has been a huge effort by members of the IMPT Council, but also other Members and HEi representatives.
Kevin Page MBE and Mark Cutler MBE moved us towards specialist registration.
Sarah Parkinson was our Chair at the time we were given this opportunity to change direction. Barry Edwards continued that work. They all had a vision for the future of the whole profession, we are all benefiting from this vision.
We also owe Chris Maryan and Trevor Coward a huge debt for giving us the educational foundation.
Thank you to all the rest of you, too many to mention here who spent weeks working on curricula and meeting various medical and dental specialist groups.
I have just been lucky enough to be in a great profession at an exciting time, grateful that I could follow that journey both personally and professionally.
Best wishes to you and yours from our first Fellow of the Academy of Healthcare Science.
Jason ‘
