Are Your Staff Plans for the Future of Your Service All Sorted?

Fact: 43 MfP’s are retiring in the next 5 years (55+; IMPT database 10/17)

Perhaps it is time to express your interest in training staff, fully funded, free to your service!

If you feel you cannot cover all the curricula in the training it is OK! You can send your trainee to a centre anywhere that can accommodate them. The trainee gets money allocated to them each year on your budget (YES MORE MONEY) to do that, so again…its free to you.

This form shows you the requirements for being a training centre:

Expression of interest programme requirements - guidance STP HSST 2018

It really is straight forward.

Accreditation? Ideally you will be an accredited centre. But if you haven’t trained before its ok. There is an online form you can fill out, a self-assessment, to show compliance. It is straight forwards. Hospital policies and procedures, and a plan about how you are going to deliver the training. It is there to show that you are planning your service.

The training plan sounds daunting? Simply put is - if you can’t provide one of the areas like trauma, burns, 3D planning or orthognathic where will you send them? This doesn’t have to be a rotation for 6 months, it can just be to acquire the knowledge over a week.

Can I say again- FREE trainees

Other part time courses which will cost your department salary and education costs. These are good for staff already employed by you, but… you can also send staff already in post onto the STP. So you will get funding for a band 6 to cover their job and free education costs, and unlike other courses this leads directly to statutory registration as a Reconstructive Scientist.

Almost too good to be true? It is that good…and it is true
We only have 6 trainees graduating in the next 3 years (2018-) to replace the retirements. 6 people to replace 43?
